Melt Away

Final Show , Academy of Fine Arts Athens

The installation is an approach to redefine personal time, in a world depending on time tracking and clocks.
Twenty-four containers made of wax symbolize the 24 hours of the day. They are time imprints, emphasising how the time had been defined by man as a measurement.
These sculptures, some more deformed and others less, have been released and transformed by every drop that falls into them creating a rhythm.
The measurement of time here is expressed in a rhythm, which refers to an analog clock. It symbolizes the passage to subjective time. The installation is an anarchic measurement and I try to motivate the viewer to explore a more personal rhythmand escape from objective time. The flow of time is related to personal identity.
The spiral coexists at the top of the work, combining the shape of a circle and its dynamic movement, representing time as part of the endless line and the uninterrupted continuity from past to future.
